The Student Guide
is the most comprehensive resource on student financial aid from the U.S.
Department of Education. grants, loans, and work-study are the three major
forms of student financial aid available through the Department's Student
Financial Assistance office. Updated each award year, The Student Guide
tells you about the programs and how to apply for them.
The
Student Guide 2001-2002, available in English and Spanish,
is for the award year July 1, 2001 - June 30, 2002.
The
Student Guide 2000-2001, is for the July 1, 2000-June 30, 2001 award
year.

To apply for federal financial aid, and to apply for many
state student aid programs, students must complete a Free Application for
Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Electronic versions of the FAFSA make applying
for financial aid faster and easier than ever.
If you have any questions, or require additional information
on student financial assistance, you may contact your high school guidance
counselor, the financial aid officer at the post secondary institution
you plan to attend, or the Federal Student Aid Information Center, open
seven days a week from 8 a.m. to midnight (Eastern Time).
